The COVID-19 pandemic has closed schools, rattled our economy, and overwhelmed health care systems across the country. It’s easy to feel utterly helpless.
But even with so much uncertainty lying ahead, you can still take basic precautions to do what matters most: keep your family safe.
Here’s your 5-step checklist for protecting yourself and your loved ones during the Coronavirus outbreak.
1. Stay Informed
Get up-to-date info on the COVID-19 outbreak from public health officials.
2. Prepare for Illness
Take precautions for individuals in your home who may be at higher risk due to age or underlying illnesses.
3. Take Preventive Steps
Wash your hands thoroughly and often. Avoid touching your face. Stay home when you’re sick. And routinely clean and disinfect your home.
4. Watch for Symptoms
Call your health provider if you have a fever, cough or shortness of breath. Get emergency care for trouble breathing, chest pain, new confusion, bluish lips or face.
5. If Someone Gets Sick
Isolate sick individuals from others. Disinfect surfaces. Don’t share personal items. Care for your own emotional health and that of others.
